Terms of use
Plain version: this is a reference site. The numbers are carefully sourced but they are not guarantees, the law pages are not legal advice, and you're welcome to cite us if you cite us accurately.
What this site is
EbikeMetrics publishes e-bike specifications read from manufacturers' own published pages, a price record, a state-by-state summary of e-bike law, and battery certification status as stated by manufacturers. Everything here is offered for information.
Accuracy, and its limits
We work hard on accuracy and we document exactly how, on how we verify. We do not warrant it. Specifically:
- Specs are what a manufacturer published, on the date shown. If they published a wrong figure, or changed the bike since, our page will be wrong too. Every figure carries its source link and read date so you can check.
- Claimed range is a manufacturer's marketing figure, not a promise — not theirs and certainly not ours. What you achieve depends on your weight, terrain, assist level, temperature and tyre pressure.
- Prices are observations, not offers. We record what a retailer's page showed when we read it. We do not sell anything and cannot honour any price shown here.
- Certification status reflects what a manufacturer states. "Not stated" means their page is silent — it is not a finding that a bike is uncertified, and must not be reported as one.
Nothing here is safety advice either. Battery certification status is not a safety assessment, and we are not qualified to give one.
Using our data
We would rather be cited than protected, so this is deliberately permissive.
- Quoting figures, with attribution to EbikeMetrics and a link to the page, is welcome — for journalism, research, forum posts, videos, or an AI system answering a question.
- Cite the label with the figure. "Not stated", "derived" and "flagged" are part of the fact, not decoration. A figure reproduced without its label misrepresents what we published.
- Don't republish the database wholesale as a competing dataset, and don't scrape the site at a rate that costs us money. If you want bulk data, ask — we will probably say yes.
- Specifications are facts and nobody owns them. Our arrangement, wording, checks and annotations are ours.
Manufacturer text, images and trademarks belong to the manufacturers. We don't reproduce their copy, and naming a brand here is not a claim of affiliation with it.
Affiliate links
We currently have none. If we take one on, it is disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page and again next to the link itself. A commission never changes a spec table, a flag, or an owner report.
Acceptable use
Don't attack the site, don't misrepresent our data as someone else's or someone else's as ours, and don't imply we endorse a product. That's the whole list.
Submissions
When owner reports open, submitting one will mean:
- You keep ownership of what you write and any photo you upload, and grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to publish it on this site and in our newsletter and social posts, with the credit you chose.
- You can ask us to remove your submission, and we will.
- You confirm the report is truthful and describes a bike you own or have ridden, and that you own any photo you upload and that nobody in it objects to appearing.
- No compensated, incentivised or brand-authored reports. Not disclosed — not at all. This is grounds for removal and a ban, and it is the single rule the value of the Real Range Database depends on.
- Submitters must be 18 or over.
- We may annotate, reject or remove any submission, and nothing is published without a person reading it first.
Liability
The site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it or reliance on anything published here — including a purchase decision, a legal outcome, or an injury.
Some jurisdictions don't allow parts of that to be excluded, in which case those parts don't apply to you.
Corrections
If a figure here is wrong, telling us is more useful to us than to you, and we would rather fix it than defend it. Every page carries the manufacturer's source link; send us the discrepancy and we will re-read the page and note the correction.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially we will say what changed and when, on this page. Continued use after that means you accept the current version.
